JALALABAD (PAN key commander were killed as a result of an airstrike in the Hisarak district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.
The airstrike took place on Sunday evening during an operation of Afghan forces in the Wach Khwar area of the Hisarak district, the administrative head of the town said.
Hajji Abdul Khaliq Maroof told Pajhwok Afghan News that a Taliban commander, Awal Gul and his four comrades were killed in the operation.
Civilian and Afghan forces suffered no casualties in the operation, but a resident of the area, Wakil, said that two civilians were among the dead.
“One of the victims was my neighbour and another was a shopkeeper,” he added.
Taliban fighters have so far issued no comment regarding the airstrike.
