CHARIKAR with northern provinces, was blocked early on Tuesday morning due to fear of snow slides, an official said.
There has been one metre snow on both sides (northern and southern parts) of the key pass since Monday evening, the Slang Maintenance commander, Gen. Abdul Rajab, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Snow avalanches have hit three locations of the southern part and there is fear of snow slides, prompting the authorities to stopp vehicles on both sides, he said.
Hundreds of vehicles were stranded in the Tajikan area of Jabalus Saraj district of Parwan and the Malakhan area of Khinjan district of northern Baghlan province, he added.
When the snowfall halted and slide risk subsided, the busy highway would be reopened for traffic, the commander said.
