JALALABAD (Pajhwok): The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has provided essential medical equipment to health centres in eastern Nangarhar province, an official announced on Tuesday.
Public Health Director Maulvi Aminullah Sharif appreciated the donation from UNICEF, hoping it would help reduce mother and child mortalityrate in the province.
He said the donated equipment included 15 ultrasound machines, delivery beds, neonatal intensive care units and other items, which would be used for the improvement of mother and child health.
He added the donated items would be sent to different district hospitals and health centres. UNICEF provided generator electricity to two health centres in the province two days ago.
