15 uplift projects launched in Baghlan

PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): Thousands of residents would benefit from 15 development projects launched in the northern province of Baghlan, officials said on Monday.

The projects under implementation include a 20-bed hospital, a road, a water dam, 11 schools and two clinics in nine districts and the provincial capital, Pul-i-Khumri.

A representative of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), Eng. Abdul Shakoor, told Pajhwok Afghan News the schemes would cost $4.5 million.

Being implemented by AKDN with financial support from the German International Cooperation (GIZ), the projects will take 18 months to complete.

With the construction of 11 schools, problems of more than 4,000 students would be resolved, hoped Governor Sultan Mohammad Ebadi

The German aid was important for executing public welfare schemes and the country had pledged funds for eight more projects this year, he added.
