KHOST CITY (PAN): A specialization programme for doctors was launched at a ceremony in southeastern Khost province on Thursday, officials said.
Governor Abdul Jabar Naeemi, Public Health Director Dr. Amir Shah Rahmatzai Mangal, lecturers of the medical university and medical students participated in the ceremony.
Mangal told Pajhwok Afghan News 21 doctors would be enrolled to the programme for specialization in internal medicine, surgery, pediatric, obstetric and gynecology.
He said students with MD degrees and experience were given a priority to attend the programme that he said would also benefit doctors from Paktia and Paktika.
One of the participating doctors, Dr. Arsala, said doctors had to travel to Kabul or other countries for further medical studies, but now the facility had been made available in their home province.
Naeemi, calling the programme a good omen for doctors, asked its implementers to ensure all necessary equipment were provided to trainees. He also asked doctors to attend the course regularly and make it a success.
