SHIBERGHAN (PAN in the northern province of Uruzgan, officials said on Sunday.
The two local policemen were killed on Saturday night when Taliban fighters attacked their checkpoint in the Chakana village of Darz Aab district, the provincial police chief said.
Brig. Gen. Abdul Aziz Ghairat told Pajhwok Afghan News two other policemen who had prior links with Taliban joined Taliban during the attack.
Police summoned two guarantor tribal elders of the suspected militants, he said.
The area was away from the district headquarters, so they would not support the policemen on time, the district chief, Rahmatullah Hashar, said.
However, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed they killed three policemen and captured six injured policemen with 10 Kalashnikovs, a rocket launcher and four walkie talkies.
