Fifty-three policemen, who underwent a month-long training course, would be sent to Dan-i-Ghori and Dand-i-Shahabuddin areas on the outskirts of Pul-i-Khumri, the capital of Baghlan, the police chief, Brig. Gen. Asadullah Sherzad, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
According to local officials, the number of local policemen has reached 1,200 in different areas of the province over the past 18 months.
Separately, 200 more local policemen completed their training in Ghor and would be deployed to Pasaband and Dolana districts, said the provincial police chief, Col. Dilawar Shah Dilawar.
“We would place local policemen in areas we recently recaptured from the Taliban in Pasaband district,” he added. More than 18,000 ALP officials are current serving across the country and the number is set to reach 30,000 in near future.
