KABUL onslaught, targeting the UN mission guesthouse in the heart of heavily fortified Kabul.
The clash erupted at 4pm on Friday when five burqa-clad fighters with suicide vests, hand-grenades and guns, attacked UNAMA’s guesthouse in the 4th police district of Kabul, but all the five bombers were killed during the nine hours clash with security personnel.
A policeman, two guards of a security company and a six-year-old child were killed and 14 other people including five foreign nationals were wounded in the gun battle, Kabul police spokesman Hashmatullah Stanikzai.
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said the main target was a guesthouse where CIA officials were giving training to NDS agents. He said the fighters were laced with heavy and light weapons and were firing on several targets from a building.
Fourteen Afghan security guards and 23 foreigners were killed and nine other people injured in the clash, he claimed.
