PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): Gunmen shot dead the head and a member of a local community council in the Barak-i-Barak district of central Logar province on Sunday, an official said.
The two were killed in the noon in Yahya Qala area, the Barak-i-Barak district chief, Eng. Mohammad Rahim Amin, told Pajhwok Afghan New.
The council head Agha Jan and member Najibullah were travelling from Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, to the town of Barak-i-Barak when four gunmen intercepted their car and shot them dead.
The district chief said Agha Jan was a tribal elder whose death was a big loss for the local community.
Barak-i-Barak is one of unstable districts in Logar located 14 kilometers southeast of Pul-i-Alam.
No one has so far claimed responsibility for the assassinations.
