Taliban seize a dozen policemen in Zabul

QALAT (PAN have seized a dozen policemen in the Shah Joi district of southern Zabul province, officials and militants said on Thursday.

“Soon after fast was broken on Wednesday evening, the insurgents captured 12 police personnel,” a security official told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A Taliban infiltrator was involved in the incident, said the official, requesting not to be named. The fighters also seized weapons from the policemen, he added.

A rebel spokesman, meanwhile, said the cops were kidnapped from a police post in the Kala Khel area of Shah Joi. The policemen were involved in torturing locals, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi alleged.

“The mujahidin tied the policemen’s hands behind their backs and pushed into a vehicle along with 10 Kalashnikov assault rifles and ammunitions,” he said in a statement.
