HERAT CITY/JALALABAD (PAN): Two policemen have been killed and four others wounded in different security incidents in eastern Nangarhar and northwestern Badghis provinces, officials said On Saturday.
Mirwais Mirzakwal, the Badghis governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News one policeman was killed and three others wounded when an explosives-laden donkey was blown up close to a security post in Bala Murghab.
The wounded were in stable condition, he said, adding the explosion happened on Friday evening. He would not blame anyone for the bomb attack that blew the donkey to bits.
According to another report, one police was killed another wounded during a clash with insurgents on the Jalalabad-Torkham highway.
The incident happened when militants fired on the policemen who were buying bread from a bakery in the Kabul Camp area of Rodat district in Nangarhar late, said the district police chief, Ahmad Zahid.
A baker and his son were wounded in the shooting, but the boy later succumbed to his injuries in hospital, he said.
Nangarhar Civil Hospital Director Dr. Humayun Zahir said confirmed receiving the dead body of a civilian.
