KUNDUZ CITY (PAN) chief for the northern province of Kunduz was gunned down in the provincial capital on Wednesday morning, police said.
Eng. Amanullah Aman came under attack from unidentified motorcyclists in the 3rd police district of Kunduz City at 6.30am, the deputy police chief for the province said.
Col. Ibadullah Talwar told Pajhwok Afghan News the IEC chief was evacuated to hospital after being seriously wounded in the assault. The assailants made good their escape.
But Public Health Director Dr. Saad Mukhtar said Eng. Aman succumbed to his wounds two hours after being transferred to the Doctors Without Borders’ Hospital.
The 45-year-old IEC official, who had also served as an education official, received critical bullet injuries in his abdomen, thigh and arms. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
