MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN) from farmers in the Chamtal district of northern Balkh province, security officials said on Tuesday.
The pair was apprehended in the Ali Baba area during a two-day search operation that concluded on Tuesday, deputy police chief Col. Abdul Razzaq Qadiri told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the two individuals were caught red-handed while collecting Ushr from wheat growers. Two guns and two motorcycles were recovered from their possession.
Qadiri said the area had been cleared completely of insurgents as a result of the operation, which was jointly conducted by army and intelligence personnel.
