KABUL Football Federation (AFF) said on Friday.
Blatter expressed his intention to visit Kabul at a meeting with AFF President Karamuddin Karim in the UAE, a statement from the game’s regulatory body said. However, it did not give a specific date of the FIFA chief’s trip.
At the hour-long meeting, Blatter appreciated the recent achievements of the Afghan squad. The two officials also conferred on promoting the sport in the conflict-battered nation.
Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) President Michel Platini recently visited Kabul, where he was warmly welcomed by Karim. Platini was accompanied by Azerbaijan Football Federation General-Secretary Elkhan Mammadov.
During his visit, Platini also met President Hamid Karzai and congratulate him on the Afghan team’s recent victory in the South Asian Football Federation Championship.
In mid-September, Afghanistan jumped a record seven places in FIFA world rankings — thanks to their success in the SAFF Cup. The Afghan team rose to the132nd spot worldwide, after defeating India 2-0.
