ASADABAD (PAN): Suspected insurgents have set alight houses of several Afghan Local Police (ALP) members in eastern Kunar province, an official said on Wednesday.
The ALP personnel’s houses were torched last night in Yakha China and Wali areas of Khas Kunar district, the provincial police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Brig. Gen. Abdul Haseeb Syedkhel said the ALP officials’ houses were located near the militancy-plagued border between Kunar and Pakistan’s tribal region of Bajaur.
ALP Commander Noor Mohammad said his house had also been burnt. “The militants had warned us several times to quit our jobs, but we ignored the treats.”
