KABUL National Institute of Music (ANIM) is set to begin at its campus in Kabul on Saturday.
The winter academy is supported by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the embassies of the United States, Canada, Denmark and the British Council.
A statement from ANIM said the international music festival — combining performance and music education — would take place from Dec. 21 to February 8.
Students practice intensively, rehearse in ensembles and work with guest artists and instructors from around the world. This year, ANIM will host artists from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, India, Italy, Taiwan, the UK, and the United States.
The artists will provide lessons, master classes and workshops for students besides performing in a weekly concert series for the Kabul community each Wednesday.
At the opening ceremony, ANIM’s newly completed rehearsal building, a state-of-the-art facility with 20 practice rooms and a workshop for repairing musical instruments, will be inaugurated.
