ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): At least a dozen people were killed and 14 others injured on Sunday when a bomb ripped through a passenger van in Pakistan’s northwestern garrison city of Kohat.
Local officials told reporters the explosion near the Police Lines and the Girls Degree College killed all passengers in the Suzuki van.
Security personnel cordoned the area and launched an operation, according the news agency Associated Press of Pakistan. Five kilograms of explosive were used in the blast.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief, Nasir Khan Durrani, said the blast happened on the Kohat-Hangu Road, which was blocked for traffic for quite some time.
Kohat police chief, Salim Khan Marwat put the toll at 12 dead and 14 injured. The victims, some of them in critical condition, were evacuated to Liaquat Memorial Hospital.
