KABUL (Pajhwok): Close to the nation’s capital, polling stations in the Shwandai area of Sarobi district could not open until 11:00am after militant attacks early in the morning.
Insurgents stormed polling stations in the district at around 7:00am with rockets and light weapons. But the attackers were beaten back by security forces.
Voters swarmed the polling stations after security forces controlled the situation. But they claimed the centers could not open so far.
A tribal elder told Pajhwok Afghan News voters were waiting for the polling stations to open. An official said the delivery of materials to the area had been delayed for security reasons.
