KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Four burqa-clad militants, including their commander, were shot dead by police during a clash in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Sunday.
The four were heading toward a police check-post in Chahar Dara district last night when they were identified by police, who opened fire at them, the provincial police spokesman said.
Col. Syed Sarwar Hussaini told Pajhwok Afghan News the dead included Qari Sirajuddin, a local Taliban commander. Police seized weapons and shot injured another three militants.
The Taliban are yet to comment on the incident, but their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed two policemen were killed and their vehicle destroyed in a roadside bomb attack in Kunduz City.
