KABUL) secretary on Tuesday rejected Muhammad Mohaqiq’s statement regarding election fraud as confusing and challenged him to present evidence.
Mohaqiq — Dr. Abdullah’s choice for 2nd vice-president, recently claimed the team of reforms and unanimity was an outright winner in the April 5 polls, but the IEC intentionally pushed the vote to the second round.
Also a former parliamentarian, Mohaqiq said: “IEC Secretary Ziaul Haq has the ultimate power and whatever he wants, he can do.”
But Amarkhel rejected the allegations, explaining that IEC employees performed their duties within the framework of clearly-defined rules and regulations.
He asked Mohaqiq to present evidence in support of his allegations, and not to make baseless claims that fuelled confusion.
