FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Wednesday said it was difficult transferring election materials to some districts of northeastern Badakhshan province without air support from security forces.
IEC Director Mohammad Rasoul Umar said the delivery of sensitive election material to 14 districts had already been completed but roads to 14 mountainous districts were covered with snow, hampering the stuff to be delivered.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News the election materials had been stored in Faizabad for further delivery. Meanwhile, 26 polling centres in the province had been identified vulnerable to attacks.
But police said security measures were being mulled to protect the polling sites deemed as insecure.
