KANADAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A policeman has gunned down three of his colleagues and left two others wounded at a security outpost in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Monday.
A security official in the province wishing not to be named told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place on Sunday night when a policeman all in a sudden opened indiscriminate fire, leaving three of his colleagues dead and two others wounded in Maiwand district.
The attacker managed to flee along with weapons, he said, adding police had started raids to nab the culprit.
Separately, security forces have foiled a big sabotage attack aimed at firing rockets on Kandahar Airport.
Dawa Khan Minapal, the governor’s spokesman, said three militants were planning to storm the airport. But two of the militants and another wounded in an airstrike by International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) before they could hit the target, he added.
Two rockets and some ammunition had been recovered from the militants. However, Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
