KABUL (TTP) commander Adnan Rashid in Wana, the headquarters of South Waziristan Agency (SWA), media reports said on Wednesday.
Quoting well-placed intelligence sources, Dawn.com said Rashid was detained from Wana where he had been hiding following the military operation in adjacent North Waziristan Agency (NWA).
Rashid is a former Pakistani military officer who left the army and joined the ranks of TTP. Earlier, he was in captivity in the Dera Ismail Khan central jail for his alleged involvement in the 2004 attacks on former military dictator Gen. Parvez Musharraf.
But Rashid managed to flee the jail along with 400 other detainees when a group of Taliban attacked the jail. He is an important TTP man, known for planning deadliest attacks on Pakistani installations and airports.
TTP confirmed the arrest of Rashid, blaming local rival groups for conniving at his detention.
