MAIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): Seven Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and 16 insurgents have been killed in security incidents in different parts of central Maidan Wardak province, the governor’s spokesman said on Monday.
Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News the overnight incidents took place in Maidan Shahar, the provincial capital, Chak and Nirkh districts. Afghan security forces killed 10 militants during a clash in Nirkh.
The security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from Taliban’s hideouts. Five ANA soldiers were also killed in the gunbattle, he acknowledged.
Separately, six militants, including two notorious commanders, were killed and a third wounded in an airstrike in the Faqiri locality of Chak district. The rebels Militants have not yet commented on the incidents.
