KABUL (Pajhwok): Japan has promised to equip the Afghan Football Federation (AFF) Stadium with lights to enable hosting nighttime matches and build a mini-pitch for junior teams, the federation said on Thursday.

Under an agreement signed between the football bodies of the two countries, Japan will establish the first-ever professional football academy in Afghanistan.

The academy will facilitate the Afghan players’ travel to Japan for professional football training, as well as continue their education.

AFF would also provide higher education opportunities for national team players in all categories on scholarships in Japan to obtain degrees in sports management, coaching and sports medical & nutrition aids sections.
