KABUL (Pajhwok): The peace committee chief for eastern Nuristan province, Abdul Hakim Nuristani, was gunned down in the capital Kabul, a member of the panel said on Friday.
Speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News, Ahmad Shah, the peace committee secretary, said two motorcyclists opened fire on Nuristani on Thursday evening when he was going home from evening prayers.
He was attacked in the Qul Abchgan locality of the capital, Shah said, adding that police had detained one of the assailants. However, he gave no further details. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
