FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Four school buildings were inaugurated on Thursday in western Ghor province, where 90 percent of schools lack proper buildings, officials said.

Education. The schools cost around $1 million and have been built in the provincial capital.  

Education Director Sibghatullah Akbari said each school had eight classrooms, an administrative office, a playground and furniture. The buildings were completed in one year, he added.   

Student Shah Mohammad said: “I am so happy studying in a proper classroom with chairs and tables. My family would previously ask me avoid going to classes in the open. Now the problem has been solved.”

There are 223,000 students in Ghor province, 84,000 of them girls, but still 90% of school lack buildings. Seventy-two schools are under construction and contracts for 13 more building have been signed.

At the same time, construction of the provincial education department is also ongoing at a cost of half a million dollars pledged by the World Bank.

Governor Sayed Anwar Rahmati hoped with the construction of the education department building, many staff problems would be solved.
