MAIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): At least 10 militants including Hezb-i-Islami (HIA) members have been killed during separate security incidents in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Monday.
Three rebels and a policeman were killed and a suspect arrested after a supply convoy of Afghan forces came under fire in the Syedabad district of the province late on Sunday, the governor’s spokesman said.
Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News five oil tankers were torched and five policemen wounded in the clash.
But the Taliban claimed torching 17 military trucks and inflicting heavy casualties on Afghan soldiers. The group’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the loss of two militants in Syedabad.
Elsewhere in the province, seven HIA members were killed in a clash with Taliban in Nirkh district. Khogyani said that a commander of the HIA was also wounded in the fight.
