KABUL (Pajhwok): Seventeen armed militants have been killed during security operations in different provinces over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Interior claimed on Sunday.
The operations were conducted by Afghan forces in Nangarhar, Laghman, Badakhshan, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Khost and Farah provinces, a statement from the ministry said.
At least 22 fighters were wounded and one caught alive during the offensives, which also led to the seizure of arms and ammunition, including 15 improvised explosive devices.
Security personnel also discovered and defused 270 landmines planted by insurgents on different areas of Kandahar, Paktika and Helmand provinces, the statement added.
