LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): A post commander was among three policemen killed in an overnight roadside bombing in southern Helmand province, where four insurgents had been arrested, officials said on Wednesday.
The roadside bomb struck a police vehicle patrolling in the Baba Jee area on Tuesday night, Helmand police spokesman Col. Farid Ahmad Obaid told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the blast left post commander Abdul Sattar and two others dead and injured another two.
The same night, security forces detained four Taliban militants during operation in the Marja town, Obaid said. Three guns, a walkie-talkie and a corolla vehicle were recovered from the detainees, he added.
A Taliban’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid only said that two policemen had been killed during an attack on a police post in Sangin district last night.
In northern Takhar province, suspected insurgents shot dead an education in the Namk Ab district on Tuesday night.
The governor’s spokesman, Sunnatullah Taimor, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Bagh Khwaja area. He identified the slain official as Najmuddin. He said police had launched an investigation into the incident.

In eastern Laghman province, intelligence officials detained six persons smuggling 78 kilograms of drugs in the Alishang district on Tuesday night.
The governor’s spokesman, Sarhadi Zwak, said the detainees wanted to smuggle the narcotics to neighbouring Nangarhar province. The six men belonged to the same family and were residents of the Kama district, he added.
