KABUL.

At a gathering to mark the 25th anniversary of the UN convention on the rights of child, major threats faced by Afghan children such as poverty, forced labour, lack of education, trafficking and sexual abuse were highlighted.

Addressing the ceremony, Muhammadi suggested that symbolic gatherings were not enough to ensure better life for children.

He underlined that the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Martyr and Disabled along with the Ministry of Education must thoroughly analyze the condition of children and based on their findings suggest new strategies.

Amina Afzali, acting minister Labour, Social Affairs, Martyr and Disabled said despite financial hurdles they had introduced some laws and strategies to improve children’s condition.

She said expenditure in security sector had undermined the developmental issues in the country.

According to her, out of 6.5 million vulnerable, as many as 3.5 million of them have been supported by various agencies.
