Local officials said mortars fired by Afghan military hit a house, where a marriage ceremony was taking place, in the Mian Rodi village of the Sangin district late on Wednesday, killing 26 people and injuring 45 others.
The Secretary-General urged the Afghan government to carry out a full investigation into the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Ban extended “his deepest condolences to the relatives of the victims and wished a swift recovery to the injured.”
