JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 700 land plots were distributed among teachers to build their houses in the Khiwi district of eastern Nangarhar province, acting education minister said Saturday.
Speaking at the documents’ distribution ceremony, Mohammad Asif Nang said the plots were given to the teachers’ community in the centre of the district.
The education ministry, he reassured was striving to provide long-term loans to the teachers for building their own houses. In addition, he pledged that the teachers’ shortage issue in the district would be resolved on priority basis. Meanwhile, Mohammad Hanif Gardiwal, the deputy governor, lauded the move and said that the issue of teachers’ township would be resolved.
He issued directions to the officials concerned to adopt measures to settle problems of teachers. Education Director Prof. Allah Dad Ismailzai said that 11 townships were under consideration for teachers in Nangarhar.
The plots of majority townships had been distributed among teachers. Malim Ashiqullah, president of the teachers association, thanked the education ministry for distribution of plots and resolving others issues confronted by the teachers’ community. nh/rm
