12,000 sit entry test’s 1st round in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): Approximately 12,000 high school graduates on Thursday sat the first round of university entrance test in capital Kabul.

The examinees will find their way to the Kabul University, the Medical University, the Polytechnic and Prof. Rabbani Education universities. 

Speaking to journalists at the Kabul University, acting Higher Education Minister Mohammad Usman Babari said around 80,000 candidates would participate in five to six rounds of the entry test.

He said the Higher Education Ministry was trying its level best to ensure that the entry test process was transparent. He said students scoring high marks would be granted scholarships.

Mohammad Nasim, one of the examinees, said he was satisfied with his attempt to solve the paper.” He was eyeing admission to the computer science faculty.

Last year, 254,000 students appeared in the university entrance test, with 55,000 of them making it to public sector universities. Another 60,000 qualifying students were absorbed in private sector universities.
