2 civilians dead; huge narcotics cache seized

MAIMANA/FAIZABAD (PAJHWOK): The militants gunned down two civilians whom they kidnapped two days back in northwestern Faryab province, official said on Sunday.

 

Abdul Jamil Sadiqi, the administrative chief for Qaisar district, told Pajhwok Afghan News insurgents left the corpses of the slain civilians with explosives attached to their bodies and the residents could not dare to shift the corpses.

 

However, he said that leading tribal elders had been contacted to approach militants to allow burying the dead.

 

Ahmad Farhad, the council head in Qasiar, said that the dead included Abdul Jabbar and Agha Azim. However, Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.

 

Separately, police claimed seizing 40 kilograms of narcotics in northeastern Badakhshan province. Police spokesman Lal Muhammad Ahmadzai said the drugs were placed skillfully in 80 sacks in a car and were being smuggled from Argo district to Kabul.

 

He added police seized the contraband at a security check post near Faizabad City, the provincial capital, and arrested two smugglers.
