DAB branch manager involved in 50m afs scam: Police

KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): More than 50 million afghanis have been stolen from De Afghanistan Bank (DAB)’s branch in the Spin Boldak district of southern Kandahar province, police spokesman said on Thursday.

Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the branch manager and two of his accomplices were allegedly involved in the scam. He said a manhunt was underway to nab the three officials.

A delegation from the central bank in Kabul had arrived to investigate how much money was stolen and who was involved in the case.

DAB chief in south-western zone confirmed that 50 million afs was stolen. Another source wishing anonymity claimed a theft of around 80 million afghanis took place instead.
