Child among 4 dead in Bamyan avalanche

BAMYAN (Pajhwok): A heavy avalanche in the Yakawlang district of central Bamyan province left four persons including an infant dead, officials said on Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Khudayar Qudsi, police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the avalanche struck the Joy Shing locality on Monday night. An infant, a 14-year-old girl and their parents were among the dead, he added.

Abdul Rahman Ahmadi, the governor’s spokesperson, said the emergency relief committee had sent a team to the area but did not have much detail because of lack of communications.
