LASHKARGAH/JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 36 militants have been killed and a dozen wounded in clearing operation and clashes in different parts of the country, officials said on Tuesday.
A statement from the 215th Maiwand Military Corps said 33 rebels were killed and seven others wounded in the past 24 hours during clearing operation in the Sangin district of southern Helmand province.
It added huge arms and ammunitions had been seized in the ongoing offensive. But Taliban claimed killing eight security personnel in Sangin firefight.
Separately, three rebels were killed and five others injured during an overnight clash in the Daka locality of Momandara district in eastern Nangarhar province, the border police spokesman said.
Idrees Momand said security forces remained unhurt in the gun night battle.
