QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): The long demanded drinking water project has been completed in the western Badghis province, which will provide potable water to around 1,800 families, an official said on Saturday.
The scheme is completed at a time when underground water of several areas such as the Maqur and Abkmri districts of the province developed a salty taste.
Majority of the residents had to drink salty water or store the rain water, but few well-off families used to buy 18 litres drinking water at a cost of 30 Afghanis.
