FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): At least 19 security personnel and 41 militants have suffered casualties during separate security incidents in western Farah province, officials said Wednesday.

Farah Police Chief Fazal Mohammad Samadyar told Pajhwok Afghan News that 30 militants were killed and 11 others including a commander were wounded during separate clashes in Kosha, Gajgin, Kandor, Shah Mubarak and Sangolak areas of Pushtrud district.

He said that the bodies of 11 militants were still lying on the incident scene. Three policemen were also killed and five others wounded during the clashes, he said.

But Farah Public Health Director Dr. Abdul Jabbar Shaiq said the bodies of three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers and seven policemen were shifted to Farah Civil Hospital.

Four ANA soldiers and five policemen wounded in the clashes were also shifted to the hospital, he said. Two of the wounded were said to in critical condition.

A resident of the area wishing anonymity said two children were also killed in Sangolak and Kosha villages during the Tuesday fight firefight that ended around 11: 00 pm last night.

He said that 12 militants were killed and five others wounded in the gun battle.

A Taliban spokesman Qari Mohammad Yousuf claimed killing 27 security personnel and arresting a commander during Pushtrod fight.

He confirmed the death of only two militants and injury of four others.

He said that Taliban also destroyed two army tanks and seized 20 weapons from security forces.
