NPC approves 7 contracts worth nearly 2 billion afghanis

KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Procurement Committee (NPC) has approved seven contracts worth nearly two billion afghanis, the Presidential Palace said on Tuesday.

The committee met under the chairmanship of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani at the Presidential Palace last night, a statement from the palace said.

The contracts approved were about resumption of work on the construction of Khost airport, the pavement of Noniaz-Mohammad Agha road, the extension of maintenance contract for buildings of the Interior Ministry for another quarter at a total cost of 1.9 billion afs.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO), finance, economy and justice ministers, NPC members and parliamentarians attended the meeting, the statement said.

The meeting also discussed the construction of 60-km roads in Zaranj, the capital of Nimroz province, and roads’ construction in Ferzokoh, the capital of Ghor, and a 60-metre retaining wall.

President Ghani instructed the public works minister to design and manage engineering related activities, implement and monitor activities of schemes and also identity and utilize domestic capacities.

He also tasked the finance minister with finding financing sources for the projects.
