WASHINGTON (Pajhwok): A key Senate committee Thursday confirmed the nomination of Gen John Nicholson as the next commander of US and NATO.
The powerful Senate Armed Services Committee approved the nomination of General Nicholson unanimously during a Congressional hearing on Afghanistan where the outgoing commander Gen John Campbell testified before the Senators.
In his testimony last week, General Nicholson said he would review the plan to cut US troop level by nearly half by the start of next year.
