FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): The construction of an Indian-funded school building has kicked off in the Shuhada district of northeastern Badakhshan province, an official said on Monday.
Ahmad Naveed Frotan, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News 1,000 students would be able to study in a proper environment once the construction work on the Shamsul Haw High School was completed.
The building would cost 22 million afghanis to be provided by the Indian government.
Abdul Ahad, a monitoring committee official at the education department, said currently 833 students were being taught by 27 teachers at the school.
He said the students were taught in the open but with the construction of the school building, the problem would be resolved.
