Daikundi labour director jailed for 16 months

NEILI (Pajhwok): The primary court in central Daikundi province on Sunday sentenced to 16 months in jail the provincial labour, social affairs, martyrs and disabled (LSMD) department head.

Ghulam Hussain Farzam has been detained on the charges of falsification and misusing his authority about 10 months back and referred to the attorney’s office.  

A judiciary panel of the Daikundi urban court on Sunday convicted and sentenced to jail the LSMD head for 16 months based on evidence produced before the jury.

Last week, 11 officials were detained over allegedly embezzling millions of afghanis and were referred to the provincial attorney’s office.

Cashier of the education department was convicted of misappropriating more than six million afs and was jailed for 10 years.  

A recent investigation shows more than 12 million afs have been missing from the education department and there are no documents to reveal how the money was spent.

Mohammad Ali Wasiq, the education director, Syed Mustafa, finance and administrative affairs officer, Syed Zamin, revenue department head, and Syed Naeem Musavi, revenue control manager, were detained along with seven other officials and referred to the attorney’s office for prosecution.
