SHARANA (Pajhwok): Ilyas Wahdat has been appointed as new governor of the southeastern Paktika province, the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) said on Sunday.
IDLG spokesperson Munira Yousufzada told Pajhwok Afghan News the order signed by President Ashraf Ghani was set to be officially announced on Sunday night.
The outgoing governor of Paktika, Aminullah Shariq had been appointed nearly 13 months ago.
Meanwhile, Shariq was quoted as welcoming the president’s decision in a statement issued by the Paktika governor’s house.
