JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A moneychanger was killed and a large amount of money looted by unidentified gunmen in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, on Thursday.
Provincial police spokesman, Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, told Pajhwok Afghan News the moneychanger was murdered near Sherin Plaza in Jalalabad in the morning.
He said unidentified gunmen opened fire on the moneychanger and wounded him. He was evacuated to hospital for treatment, the police spokesman added.
However, eyewitnessQari Faizullah said the moneychanger was killed in the incident and the attackers looted a million afghanis from him.
The governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, said the incident took place in the limits of the first police district. He identified the victim as Shidullah, 25. The killers managed to escape.
