KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Local education officials say five more schools have recently been closed in southern Kandahar province due to a shortage of students and teachers.
In total, 139 schools have been closed in the province because of insecurity and other problems. One school is closed in Zherai, two in Panjwai and two in Shah Walikot district.
“Unfortunately, we confirm the department has closed some schools but we are struggling to reopen them,” Education Department spokesman Nazar Mohammad Samimi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
