PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Islamabad has directed all provincial governments not to initiate legal action against undocumented Afghan citizens living in Pakistan, a well-placed source said on Tuesday.
The federal government’s directive comes as a deadline set for unregistered Afghans by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where most of the illegal refugees live, expires today.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is home to about 1.3 million registered refugees with Proof of Registration (PoR) cards and 0.6 million undocumented Afghans, one provincial official told Pajhwok Afghan News.
