KABUL (Pajhwok): The national unity government is investigating the detention of Ahmad Eshchi, a noted tribal elder from northern Jawzjan province, the Presidential Palace said on Tuesday.
Whatever its outcome, the investigations would be independently conducted by the judiciary, a statement from President Ashraf Ghani’s office said.
The government said it considered the protection of people, human dignity and Islamic values in compliance with the country’s constitution and international law as its core responsibility.
