Civilian, intelligence agent dead in Kandahar attacks

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): One civilian has been killed and two others wounded in a roadside bombing in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Friday.

Samim Khpalwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blast occurred in the Tarnak Pul area of the 5^th police district of Kandahar City on Thursday night.   

He said the car carrying the civilians to the provincial capital struck the roadside bomb at 7.30pm. The injured were evacuated to the Mirwais Civil Hospital by police.

Elsewhere in the city, an intelligence agent was killed in an ambush in the 12^th police district, Khpalwak said. The intelligence operative came under gunfire on his way to office.
